Toby Barrett



First elected to the Ontario Legislature June 1995, Toby was re-elected in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2011, 2014 and 2018. Toby is Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, as well as Secretary of the U.S.-based State Agriculture Rural Leaders. Over the years, Toby has held a number of positions as opposition critic, parliamentary assistant, committee chair and PC Caucus chair.

Toby has a Masters of Science degree from the Ontario Agricultural College and a degree in Economics from the University of Guelph. Prior to election, he had a 20-year career at the Ontario Addiction Research Foundation, and taught high school Agriculture and Environmental Science. In 1993, Toby received the Canada 125 medal for outstanding community service.

Toby has travelled 60 countries, and has an abiding interest in antique trucks, tractors and cars. He and his wife Cari live on the family farm near Port Dover
