2020 Ontario PC Policy Conference Comes To A Close

On February 21-22, Progressive Conservatives from across Ontario gathered in Niagara Falls for the 2020 Ontario PC Policy Conference to discuss policy, take stock of accomplishments to date, and celebrate another year of Ontario’s Government For the People.

The Conference, which saw thousands of party members in attendance, kicked off with an opening reception, where participants heard from inspirational speaker Rex Murphy.

Policy was the focus on Day 2, with several Policy Advisory Council (PAC) and Regional Policy sessions taking place throughout the day. These discussions marked the beginning of the 2020-2022 policy development process, as party members gathered to discuss and examine policy options that will help inform the 2022 Ontario PC platform. Discussions included, but were not limited to, how our PC government can help:

  • Bring more jobs and investments to each region in Ontario, including transportation and infrastructure needs to attract those investments
  • Put an end to hallway health care and support those suffering from mental health challenges
  • Increase housing supply
  • Encourage more young people to explore a career in the skilled trades
  • Reduce red tape in the agriculture and agri-food industry and promote Ontario grown products
  • Protect Ontario’s waterways
  • Make lives better for farmers and those living in rural communities
  • Prepare students, both in K to 12 and post-secondary, with the necessary skills to succeed in the modern workforce
  • Make lives easier for seniors and persons with disabilities

“Our party is united and stronger than ever,” said Brian Patterson, President of the Ontario PC Party. “Our focus looking ahead to our 2022 platform is how we can continue to bring forward policy that makes life better for all Ontarians. The fruitful discussions that took place at our 2020 Policy Conference is another step in bringing that to fruition.”

The PACs will review Conference feedback, engage in discussions with party members, examine policy options, and develop discussion papers to inform further engagement at the Ontario PC Party’s Annual General Meeting in 2021.

The Conference closed with the Premier’s Dinner, where attendees heard from the Leader of the Party.

“All of our accomplishments and progress would not be possible without the support of our volunteers, our donors, and our members. You are the lifeblood of this party,” said Doug Ford, Leader of the Ontario PC Party. “In our first 18 months, we’ve done more to put hard working people in Ontario first than any government in the history of this province. Our plan to build Ontario together is working. Our economy is firing on all cylinders. We’ve already made a difference, and with your support, nothing is going to stop us.”
