The Ontario PC government is investing nearly $7 million to protect and empower older adults across the province. Through the Seniors Community Grant Program (SCGP), this funding will support over 330 local projects that help seniors stay fit, independent, and socially connected.
In a time of economic uncertainty and rising costs, Premier Ford and our government are delivering practical, affordable solutions—making sure seniors can access the programs and services they need to live well and stay engaged in their communities.
SCGP recipients can receive up to $25,000 for local programs that:
- Reduce social isolation
- Promote wellness and community engagement
- Encourage volunteerism and lifelong learning
This year’s investment includes an additional $1 million specifically for projects that improve the lives of senior veterans, including:
- A free bus service connecting rural seniors to essential community programming in York Region
- Intergenerational art-making programs in Markham with youth living with developmental disabilities
- Weekly art therapy workshops for senior veterans in Eastern Ontario
- Wellness and digital literacy workshops in underserved parts of Northern Ontario
We’re also expanding access to Seniors Active Living Centres (SALCs) at over 400 sites provincewide—making it easier for seniors to participate in wellness programs and social activities close to home.
And with over 100 Seniors Active Living Fairs planned for 2025–26, seniors will have even more opportunities to learn about local resources, meet new people, and stay active and informed.
By continuing to invest in seniors through meaningful, community-based programs, the Ontario PC government is building a stronger, more inclusive Ontario—where older adults feel connected, empowered, and valued.
