The Ontario PC government is investing over $11.8 million to protect jobs, strengthen communities, and promote active, healthy living in Kitchener and Waterloo. This investment will revitalize local facilities, boost the regional economy, and expand opportunities for youth and families.
Key projects include:
- $10 million for a new quad-gymnasium at RBJ Schlegel Park in Kitchener, creating much-needed court space for volleyball, basketball, pickleball, and indoor cricket. The facility will host regional tournaments and events, driving local tourism and economic activity.
- $775,000 for the Albert McCormick Community Centre in Waterloo, modernizing entrances with sliding doors and automatic openers, refreshing the lobby, and installing a new year-round cooling system to enhance accessibility and support expanded programming.
- $650,000 for Chicopee Ski & Summer Resort in Kitchener, to upgrade lighting, snowmaking equipment, and add a new surface lift — extending the life of the 90-year-old community facility and improving winter recreation experiences.
- $380,000 for the Wilmot Recreation Complex, replacing outdated refrigeration equipment at the ice rinks to improve energy efficiency and ensure continued community use.
These investments are part of the PC government’s broader plan to build a more resilient and self-reliant economy, protect Ontario jobs, and remove barriers to sport and recreation. Our government is proud to support organizations focused on delivering better services for people while breaking down barriers and creating opportunities.
By revitalizing local infrastructure and supporting inclusive, accessible spaces, Ontario PCs are building stronger communities today — and a healthier, more prosperous Ontario for the future.
