The Ontario PC government is investing $9.2 million in grants and funding for up to 39 strategic economic development projects with Indigenous entrepreneurs, businesses, communities, and organizations. These investments are part of our government’s plan to protect Ontario’s economic future and support prosperity in Indigenous communities across the province.
Investments include:
- $6 million through the Indigenous Community Capital Grants Program (ICCGP)
- $3.2 million through the Indigenous Economic Development Fund (IEDF)
Both programs support infrastructure development, community planning, and provide employment and training services to help Indigenous workers gain the skills they need for good-paying jobs.
As part of these initiatives, $600,000 in ICCGP funding is helping launch the Keewaytinook Corner Fuel Station in Vermilion Bay. A joint venture by North Spirit Lake, Deer Lake, and Poplar Hill First Nations, the project includes a convenience store, six fuel pumps, above-ground tanks, and a tenant space for a national quick-serve restaurant. Located at the intersection of Highways 17 and 105, the station will serve residents, travelers, and commercial drivers—creating local jobs and driving Indigenous-led development.
These investments reflect our government’s commitment to building lasting partnerships with Indigenous communities, strengthening regional economies, and advancing economic reconciliation. The Ontario PCs will continue working with Indigenous partners to support shared priorities and create opportunities for long-term success.
