Saskatchewan has officially joined the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) previously signed by Ontario and Alberta. This bold partnership puts workers first, strengthens our domestic economy, and positions Canada as a global leader in energy, manufacturing and critical mineral development.
At a time when President Trump’s unfair tariffs are threatening Canadian jobs, Premier Ford is taking decisive action to protect our economy and secure our future. This MOU will:
- Build pipelines using Ontario steel to connect Western Canadian oil and gas to refineries in southern Ontario and a new deep-sea port in James Bay
- Construct new rail lines—also made with Ontario steel—that will link the Ring of Fire’s critical minerals to Western ports
- Accelerate nation-building projects that support workers across provincial borders and reduce our dependence on foreign trade partners
By working together, Ontario, Alberta and Saskatchewan are championing a shared vision of responsible development, economic freedom, and common sense.
Together, we are:
- Safeguarding thousands of good-paying jobs in steel, mining, energy and transportation
- Strengthening our supply chains from mine to port
- Creating real opportunities for Indigenous communities to share in the benefits through equity partnerships
- Calling on the federal government to reform broken regulatory processes that delay investment and kill jobs
Since April, Ontario has signed 10 agreements with provinces and territories to break down internal trade barriers and expand interprovincial economic cooperation. We also passed the Protect Ontario Through Free Trade Within Canada Act.
We’re building the infrastructure our workers need, defending our world-class energy and manufacturing sectors, and growing an economy that is resilient, self-reliant and built to last.
Ontario is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Alberta and Saskatchewan—because when provinces work together, Canada wins.
Let’s keep building—together.
