The Ontario PC government is delivering real results for northern and Indigenous communities with a major investment of over $13.7 million to upgrade sport and recreation facilities across northwestern Ontario — including a brand-new, state-of-the-art multi-purpose complex in Wauzhushk Onigum Nation.
This investment is part of our $200 million Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund, a key pillar of our historic plan to build Ontario.
From Kenora to Kasabonika Lake, our government is getting shovels in the ground to build modern, inclusive facilities that support youth, seniors, and families — and help strengthen the physical and mental well-being of our communities.
Highlights include:
- Over $9 million for a 60,000-square-foot wellness centre in Wauzhushk Onigum Nation — featuring an NHL-size rink, fitness space, track, and community hub.
- Upgrades to arenas and recreation spaces in Shoal Lake #40, Deer Lake, Kasabonika Lake, Ignace, and more — helping to protect local jobs and expand access to recreation.
Only the Ontario PCs have a plan to support economic growth in the North, revitalize local infrastructure, and create healthier, more vibrant communities — now and for future generations.
