Our PC government is taking bold action to strengthen Ontario’s health-care system and deliver more connected, convenient care for families across the province.
That’s why we’re investing $56.8 million to add 2,200 new nurses to our health-care workforce by 2029.
This investment will expand nursing education and training at publicly assisted colleges and universities across Ontario, ensuring more students can pursue rewarding careers as nurse practitioners, registered nurses, and registered practical nurses.
We’re also helping current health-care workers like personal support workers and registered practical nurses advance their careers through flexible, online pathways that lead to nursing credentials.
In addition, we’re providing a one-time $7.5 million investment to equip universities with the clinical supplies and lab equipment nursing students need for world-class, hands-on training.
Since 2018, our PC government has helped nearly 100,000 new nurses join the workforce; and there are 30,000 more studying today to become nurses in Ontario.
With every investment, we’re ensuring Ontario has the skilled health-care professionals needed to provide excellent care in hospitals, long-term care homes, and primary care clinics — today and for years to come.
