The Ontario PC government is once again delivering for families by making housing more affordable and protecting our economy. At the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) conference, Premier Doug Ford announced a $1.6 billion boost to the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program (MHIP) — nearly doubling the fund to $4 billion.
This record investment means municipalities and Indigenous communities will have the tools they need to build the roads, bridges, and water systems that make new housing possible. Since its launch just last year, MHIP has already supported 800,000 new homes across Ontario. With this new funding, we’re keeping workers on the job, lowering costs, and helping more families achieve the dream of homeownership.
In partnership with our $1.2 billion Building Faster Fund, which rewards municipalities that hit and exceed their housing targets, Ontario is giving local communities the resources they need to get shovels in the ground and results delivered.
This investment is part of our $200 billion capital plan, the most ambitious in Ontario’s history, building transit, highways, hospitals, schools and housing-enabling infrastructure. Over $33 billion will be invested this year alone to protect Ontario families and strengthen our economy in the face of U.S. tariffs and global uncertainty.
