Ontario PCs Taking Action to Help First-Time Home Buyers

For too long, the first home has felt out of reach for many young people and families. That’s why our government is taking action, proposing to rebate the full 8% provincial portion of the HST for first-time home buyers purchasing new homes valued up to $1 million.

When combined with the federal rebate, this means up to $130,000 in savings, real relief that helps families afford their first home while supporting good-paying jobs in construction and the skilled trades.

This initiative builds on our government’s record investments in housing and infrastructure, including $4 billion through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program and $1.2 billion through the Building Faster Fund. Together, these programs are speeding up construction, reducing costs, and helping municipalities meet their housing targets.

Industry and municipal leaders across Ontario agree that this targeted tax relief will boost new home construction, strengthen the economy, and create jobs across the province.
