A New, State-of-the-Art Ontario Science Centre at Ontario Place

Ontario families deserve world-class destinations right here at home and that is exactly what our Ontario PC government is delivering.

The contract has officially been awarded for the building of a brand-new, 400,000-square-foot Ontario Science Centre at Ontario Place, marking a major milestone in the plan to transform the waterfront into a vibrant, year-round destination for families, students and visitors.

This new, state-of-the-art facility will offer more programming space than ever before. It will feature a dynamic mainland building for hands-on exhibits and immersive learning, fully modernized and integrated pods, and a revitalized Cinesphere with acoustic upgrades and double the seating of the former OMNIMAX theatre.

This is what building for the future looks like.

Once construction begins, the new Science Centre and broader Ontario Place revitalization will:

  • Create more than 1,000 construction jobs
  • Support over 5,700 jobs and add $420 million to Ontario’s GDP during construction
  • Use Ontario businesses and services first, consistent with the Buy Ontario Act

Once complete, the revitalized Ontario Place will:

  • Support ongoing jobs in tourism, hospitality and the visitor economy
  • Welcome up to six million visitors each year
  • Serve as a year-round destination for families and students
  • Inspire the next generation of innovators with hands-on science, technology and learning experiences

This plan also preserves what makes Ontario Place iconic. The historic pods and Cinesphere will remain central to the site, blending Ontario’s proud legacy with a bold, modern vision.

With new transit connections through the Ontario Line at Exhibition Station, improved GO access and proximity to Billy Bishop Airport, families across the Greater Golden Horseshoe will have easier access than ever to this world-class waterfront destination.
