Ontario businesses are getting more relief as Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team continue cutting costs, protecting jobs and strengthening our economy in the face of U.S. tariffs.
Starting January 1, 2027, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) will lower its average premium rate from $1.23 to $1.18 per $100 of insurable payroll, saving businesses $160 million next year.
The reduction will benefit more than 80 per cent of premium-paying businesses and builds on $4 billion in WSIB rebates returned to eligible employers since 2024.
Since 2018, Ontario’s average WSIB premium rate has been cut nearly in half, from $2.35 to $1.18, putting it nearly 30 per cent below the national average.
As we celebrate Small Business Week, our Ontario PC team is delivering even more savings to help businesses grow, invest and create good-paying jobs.
Our plan includes:
- $1.1 billion in small business tax relief, saving more than 375,000 businesses up to $5,000 annually.
- More than $3.5 billion in tax relief over four years by allowing businesses to write off capital investments faster.
- $150 million through the Ontario Together Trade Fund to help businesses reach new markets and strengthen supply chains.
- $1 billion through the Protect Ontario Financing Program to help businesses affected by U.S. tariffs manage costs and protect jobs.
Together, these measures build on our record of delivering $12 billion in annual savings to Ontario businesses through actions taken since 2018.
With U.S. tariffs creating uncertainty for workers and businesses, Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team are focused on keeping costs down, protecting jobs and giving Ontario businesses the tools they need to succeed. We’re protecting Ontario businesses, supporting workers and building a stronger, more competitive and self-reliant economy.
