Ontario PCs Helping Families Save Up to $200,000 on a New Home

Owning a home is a dream for families across Ontario. Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team are taking action to make that dream more affordable by lowering the cost of new homes, cutting development charges and creating the conditions to get more homes built.

Through the historic Canada-Ontario Partnership to Build, eligible buyers can save up to $130,000 with the removal of the full 13 per cent HST on new homes from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027.

We’re also working with municipalities to lower development charges, reduce construction costs and help get more homes built faster.

The agreement makes up to $8.8 billion available over 10 years for housing-enabling infrastructure, primarily through the Development Charge Reduction Program. This program supports municipalities that reduce development charges by 30 to 50 per cent or more, helping lower the cost of building new homes.

Together, these measures could save homebuyers up to $200,000 on the purchase of a new home.

While others talk about housing affordability, Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team are delivering real savings, cutting costs and working to put homeownership within reach for more families. We’re building more homes, lowering costs and protecting the dream of homeownership in Ontario.
