Ontario PCs Deliver $12.5 Billion in Relief for Families

With families across Ontario facing rising costs and economic uncertainty from U.S. tariffs, Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team are focused on making life more affordable and helping people keep more of their hard-earned money.

As part of our 2026 Fall Economic Statement, we’re delivering more than $12.5 billion in relief for families this year alone, lowering costs on everything from gas and housing to transit and energy.

Here’s how our Ontario PC team is putting more money back into people’s pockets:

  • Lower Gas Prices: We’ve permanently cut the gas tax, delivering $2.3 billion in savings to drivers and saving households $500.
  • More Affordable Homes: By cutting development fees and removing taxes on new homes, we’re helping homebuyers save $200,000 or more.
  • Cheaper Transit: Our One Fare program eliminates double fares when transferring between local transit systems and GO Transit, saving commuters up to $1,600 a year.
  • No More Highway Tolls: By banning new tolls on provincial highways and removing existing tolls, including on Highway 407 East, we’re saving drivers $94 million annually.

These are real savings that make a difference for hardworking families, whether they’re filling up at the pump, commuting to work or buying their first home.

While U.S. tariffs continue to put pressure on workers, businesses and families, Doug Ford and our Ontario PC team are taking action to keep costs down and protect our economy. Our message is simple: We’re protecting Ontario by making life more affordable, supporting workers and putting more money back into the pockets of families across our province.
