Supporting Workers Impacted by COVID-19

Redesigned training program will help people find good jobs, provide for their families, and support our economic recovery

Our PC government is providing hope and opportunity to those who have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic by redesigning the Second Career program to make it simpler, faster, and more effective for those looking for new jobs or new careers.

The redesigned program now focuses on training jobseekers for in-demand jobs in their local communities including advanced manufacturing, life sciences, information and communications, and supportive health services. These changes will help people laid off because of COVID-19 get back to work with up to $28,000 for tuition costs, training materials, and living expenses while they re-train for a new and in-demand occupations. The updated program will also help more people get back to work faster through shorter duration training.

Laid-off workers can apply to this redesigned program and obtain funding for training programs up to one year.

The redesigned Second Career program will help many people get the training and support they need to find good jobs, provide for their families, and play an important role in our economic recovery. This will help businesses grow after the pandemic, support communities, and get Ontario back on track.
