Cutting Gas Taxes To Provide Relief for Families and Businesses
Doug Ford and the Ontario PC’s are getting it done by putting more money in your pocket when it comes to gas bills
Our PC government understands the significant impact of rising gasoline and fuel prices on Ontario businesses and families. That’s why we’ve committed to temporarily cut the gas tax by 5.7 cents per litre and the fuel tax by 5.3 cents per litre for six months, beginning July 1, 2022.
“Ongoing supply chain challenges and geopolitical conflicts are pushing up the cost of living from gas to groceries,” said Peter Bethlenfalvy, MPP for Pickering-Uxbridge and Minister of Finance. “With these added pressures, families and businesses need extra help to keep costs low. That is why our government is bringing forward legislation to provide tax relief at the pumps and put money back into people’s pockets.”
Vehicle owners in Ontario would see significant direct savings from this proposed gas tax cut and the recently announced elimination of license plate renewal fees, with households benefiting from an average combined savings of about $465 this year. .
From removing road tolls on Highway 412 and 418, to eliminating licence plate renewal fees and stickers, to providing tax relief for seniors, workers and families, this PC government is keeping costs down for the people of Ontario.
