Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the nomination of Raymond Cho
“I congratulate Raymond on his nomination as the Ontario PC candidate for Scarborough North for the 2018 election.
“Since his massive by-election victory in a riding that our Party had never won before, Raymond has been an incredible addition to our Ontario PC team. Raymond is an energetic and hardworking MPP who is passionate about Scarborough, which he has been proud to call home for 45 years. Raymond’s election into the Legislature was a historic occasion, as he was the first member of the Korean Canadian community to be elected as an MPP in Ontario.
“Whether it was the hydro rebate that the government introduced following his massive by-election victory, or his work across party lines to pass a bill proclaiming October as Islamic Heritage Month, Raymond has been an invaluable member of our growing and increasingly diverse team.
“In the Legislature, Raymond has been a fighter for Scarborough – an area of the province the Liberals have taken for granted for far too long. He has fought against the potential closure of local schools, has held the government accountable for their inaction on the Scarborough subway, and for their underfunding of local hospitals.
“After 13 years in power, life is harder under the Liberals. Hydro rates are skyrocketing. Health care is being slashed. Scandal after scandal has meant billions of tax dollars has been wasted. It’s time for a change in Ontario.
“I look forward to having Raymond’s decades of experience representing the people of Scarborough – both as a MPP and a City Councillor – as a part of our Ontario PC team in 2018.”
