Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the nomination of Randy Pettapiece
“I congratulate Randy on his nomination as the Ontario PC candidate in Perth-Wellington for the 2018 election.
“Since joining our Ontario PC team in 2011, Randy has been an incredibly active and hard-working representative who cares deeply about the interests of his constituents. Randy is a very passionate voice for rural Ontario at Queen’s Park. He has called on the government to address the growing rural/urban divide in the province, and has been a staunch advocate for Ontario’s horse racing community.
“In his time at Queen’s Park, Randy has proven himself to be a very effective legislator, passing a number of Private Member’s motions including one demanding transparency and fairness for all ridings in infrastructure funding decisions, and another calling on the government to protect taxpayers and municipalities from higher municipal insurance premiums.
“More recently, I have been proud to work with Randy on his Private Member’s bill that would improve the safety of our province’s firefighters. Randy’s bill was inspired by two firefighters from his riding who lost their lives keeping their communities safe. It has been inspiring to see how passionate Randy is about this initiative.
“After 13 years in power, life is harder under the Wynne Liberals. Hydro rates are skyrocketing. Health care services are being slashed. Billions and billions of dollars have been wasted on Liberal scandals. It’s time for a change at Queen’s Park. I look forward to working closely with Randy as we continue to spread the Ontario PC Party’s vision for a more prosperous province during the next election.”
