Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the nomination of Bill Walker
“I congratulate Bill on his nomination as the Ontario PC candidate for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound.
“Since he was first elected in 2011, Bill has proven himself to be a dedicated and passionate advocate for his constituents. He has held the government’s feet to the fire on the potential closure of local schools, and how Liberal cuts to health care have resulted in a lack of access to mental health services in his community. I know Bill will continue his hard work on behalf of his constituents and hold the government accountable.
“In the Legislature, Bill serves triple-duty as the Ontario PC Caucus’ critic for Long-Term Care, Seniors’ Issues, and Accessibility, helping to ensure that all Ontario residents are treated with dignity and respect. Bill has also long pushed for political fundraising reforms, specifically limits to third-party election advertising that would help to level the playing field for Ontarians. More recently, he was able to reach across the aisle and receive unanimous support from all three parties for his motion to establish September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
“After 13 years in power, life is harder under the Liberals. Ontarians are faced with skyrocketing hydro rates, cut after cut to health care services, and Liberal scandal, waste and mismanagement is making life increasingly unaffordable.
“I look forward to continue working with Bill to spread the Ontario PC Party’s message of a stronger and more prosperous province.”
