Statement from Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on the nomination of Logan Kanapathi

“I congratulate Logan Kanapathi on his nomination as the Ontario PC candidate for Markham-Thornhill.

“Logan brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective to our modern, inclusive and pragmatic Ontario PC team. A City Councillor for Markham since 2006, Logan was the first Tamil elected in North America. On council Logan has a wealth of experience, serving as Chair of the Budget Committee and as a council representative for the Canadian Coalition of Municipalities Against Racisim and Discrimination.

“Logan was a champion for his community throughout his decade on City Council, and I know he will continue to be a tireless advocate for the people of Markham-Thornhill as their next MPP.

“I first met Logan when I was standing up for Tamil Canadians as a Member of Parliament speaking out against the genocide in Sri Lanka. I am proud that my outreach and activism has helped to bring so many Tamil Canadians like Logan into the Progressive Conservative Party.

“After 13 years, life is harder under the Liberals. Skyrocketing hydro rates are unaffordable for both families and businesses. Cut after cut to health care services has meant more time waiting for care, and taxpayer dollars continue to be wasted.

“In Markham-Thornhill and across the province, the Ontario PC Party will continue to work hard to earn the trust of voters. I look forward to working with Logan and all of our Ontario PC Party team as we work hard to share our positive message for a more prosperous Ontario.”
