Did Liberal government suppress expert testimony?

QUEEN’S PARK – MPP Jim Wilson continued his campaign today to stop the wpd Canada wind turbine project near the Collingwood Regional Airport.

Wilson, the PC House Leader, asked the Liberal government why at the last minute it decided to call a Nav Canada witness instead of a representative from Transport Canada, during the Environmental Review Tribunal Hearing earlier this year.

“Every pilot and airport official will tell you that calling a witness from Transport Canada would have made more sense since it’s the most knowledgeable and responsible agency tasked with ensuring aviation safety. Mr. Speaker, we have reason to believe the change in witnesses was because Transport Canada did have concerns about the location of the 500-foot turbines and had a representative willing to testify. Can the minister please explain why there was a change in witnesses?”

Wilson followed by noting the government has stated it can no longer support two of the turbine locations because they pose a serious safety risk and asked why officials, “refuse to act on the serious risk posed by the other six turbines,” when so many experts say these structures are also dangerous.
