We mark a solemn occasion to preserve the memory of the victims of mass extermination – the victims of Stalinism and Nazism.
Seventy-seven years ago, the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact between two totalitarian regimes, Nazi Germany and the former Soviet Union, was signed and ultimately led to the repression and slaughter of millions of people.
We pay tribute to the tens of millions of victims in Europe.
Many fled to Canada and settled in Ontario in search of a better life. They found freedom, democracy and economic opportunity. They made invaluable contributions to our province.
We must never forget the evils of nazism and communism and what it inflicted upon our world.
