Statement by Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown on India’s Independence Day

Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown issued the following statement marking India’s Independence Day:

“Today we mark the 69th anniversary of India’s independence. It is an important and festive occasion for many in Ontario and around the world.

I was pleased to greet my friend Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister of India, when he came to Canada in 2015, and to visit him at his home in India earlier this year. Canada and India share values of democracy, pluralism and the rule of law.

Canadians of Indian descent have excelled and contributed to all aspects of our society, enriching our province in many ways.  Having attended numerous events and met with members in Ontario, I know that we are fortunate to have such a strong and vibrant community here.

I look forward to continue working with Ontarians of Indian heritage in helping to build a stronger future.

I wish everyone celebrating a happy Independence Day!”
