Wynne Liberals have abandoned Scarborough schools and students

SCARBOROUGH – Yesterday, Ontario PC Leader and Education Critic Patrick Brown had the opportunity to tour Holy Spirit Catholic School, a kindergarten to grade 8 schoollocated in Scarborough.

“What I saw was alarming. Doors that won’t open. Asbestos in the ceilings. Boilers in need of repairs,” said Brown. “The Wynne Liberals have allowed our schools to deteriorate to the point that it is affecting the quality of education our students receive.”

Ontario has over $1.7-billion in needed urgent repairs within our school system. Holy Spirit alone has $5.6-million in urgently needed repairs. Grassroots parent organizations, such as Fix Our Schools, have continually called on the Liberal Government to take action and improve Ontario’s degrading school infrastructure.

“Even worse, the parent council told me that their bus service and special education programs are being cut. 13 years of Liberal scandal, mismanagement, and waste means no more funds for our schools and education programs,” Brown concluded. “This is the true cost of Wynne Liberal incompetence. You can see the price of their waste at the grassroots level. Our students deserve better.”
