IT’S NEVER OKAY UNLESS WYNNE DOES IT

QUEEN’S PARK – Today during Question Period, PC Critic for Women’s Issues, MPP Laurie Scott, asked the Premier about the way her party managed the sexual harassment allegations against former MPP Kim Craitor.

“When it comes to remaining silent on workplace harassment, the government’s ad campaign says ‘It’s Never Okay,’” said Scott. “We now learn that a former female employee of Kim Craitor’s said she was bound by a non-disclosure agreement.”

“Was the non-disclosure agreement tied to the settlement of the sexual harassment complaint or are these women free to come forward to tell their stories?” asked Scott.

In creating a safer and harassment-free culture, the management of this issue is concerning – that victims would be forced to stay silent with a non-disclosure agreement. Scott asked the Premier if she would set aside the non-disclosure agreement and allow victims like Michelle Tavano to tell their stories.

“When it comes to silencing the voices of victims, why is it never okay except when you’re the Premier?”
