The Ontario PC government is proud to support a made-in-Ontario critical minerals supply chain—built in partnership with Indigenous communities and grounded in shared ownership and opportunity.
Through a historic investment of $3.1 billion in loans, scholarships, and grants, our government is laying the foundation for a stronger, more stable, and more prosperous future. This initiative ensures that Indigenous communities benefit directly from the development of Ontario’s critical minerals, gaining new opportunities, resources, and pathways to long-term economic success.
To support this vision, we are introducing the following key initiatives:
- $3 billion through the Indigenous Opportunities Financing Program to help Indigenous partners expand into high-growth sectors beyond electricity.
- $70 million over four years through the Indigenous Participation Fund to build capacity in Indigenous communities located in areas of significant mineral activity.
- $10 million over three years for new scholarships for Indigenous postsecondary students pursuing careers in resource development, ensuring access to the training and tools they need to succeed.
These bold investments will aid local businesses and people, particularly in the northern parts of our province like Timmins, Sudbury, Sault Ste. Marie, Thunder Bay, and North Bay, along with a variety of Indigenous communities, in hopes of working towards our goal to make a stronger and more resilient Ontario.
