Statement by MPP Randy Pettapiece on the Anniversary of the Korean March First Movement

Koreans around the world mark March 1st as an important day – the anniversary of the March First Movement, also called Samil Independence Movement. We pause not only to pay tribute to those who contributed to the Korean Declaration of Independence but to celebrate the ideals behind this independence movement.

This was an important milestone in Korea’s history and is a matter of great pride to those of Korean heritage in Ontario.  Canadians of Korean heritage contribute to our province’s economic, cultural, social and political diversity and I am pleased to serve in the role as PC Caucus Liaison to the Korean community in Ontario.
