The Ontario PC government is protecting seniors and building for the future with the launch of a new Capital Funding Program (CFP) to make it easier and faster to build long-term care homes across the province.
As Ontario ages, we need to protect our province by building long-term care homes faster, smarter, and in the places that need them most. For too long, governments talked about fixing long-term care but failed to act. Under Premier Doug Ford, that’s changed. Our PC government is putting shovels in the ground and delivering real results so Ontario seniors get the world-class care they deserve, close to home, for generations to come.
This new, flexible funding model will:
- Replace the old fixed, cost-per-bed model with a flexible, percentage-based system that better reflects construction and land costs in different regions of Ontario.
- Provide up to 85% of eligible construction costs, with funding levels tailored across four market segments.
- Ensure not-for-profit operators receive funding earlier, so projects can move quickly into construction.
- Allow hospital and Indigenous operators to receive the full amount of ministry funding during construction, ensuring no community is left behind.
We’re already seeing success stories like Maxville Manor, a not-for-profit home in Maxville now breaking ground thanks to this program. The project will redevelop 122 existing beds, add 38 new ones, and bring modern, state-of-the-art facilities to the community.
Through innovative programs like the CFP, our PC government is making continued progress toward its commitment to build 58,000 new and upgraded long-term care beds across Ontario. Already, over 24,000 beds are completed, under construction, or approved; the fastest pace in provincial history.
