Statement from Ontario PC MPP Lisa Thompson on Ontario’s Climate Strategy

QUEEN’S PARK – Ontario PC Critic for the Environment and Cap-and-Trade Lisa Thompson released the following statement today regarding Ontario’s climate strategy:
“The Premier’s comments on climate change today are another stunning example of Liberal hypocrisy.

Kathleen Wynne claims she wants to balance the needs of the environment and the economy, yet her Liberal government pushes ahead with a cap-and-trade scheme that will impact the costs of everything from fuel, to groceries, to manufactured goods. It will put Ontario industries at a competitive disadvantage, and the Government has an obligation to inform Ontarians what this plan will cost them before proceeding with cap-and-trade.
Climate change cannot be ignored. That being said, Ontario needs a government that will address climate change through innovation and conservation while protecting and growing our economy.”
