The Ontario PC government is standing up for drivers and families by putting an end to municipal speed camera cash grabs.
Too many municipalities have been using speed cameras as nothing more than a way to squeeze money out of hardworking taxpayers. That ends now. Premier Doug Ford and our PC team are introducing legislation to ban automated municipal speed cameras across the province.
Instead of punishing drivers weeks after the fact with costly fines, our government is investing in real, common-sense safety measures that actually slow down traffic and protect families, without making life more expensive.
Through a new provincial fund, municipalities will be able to install:
- Speed bumps and speed cushions
- Roundabouts and curb extensions
- Raised crosswalks and flashing school zone signs
- Enhanced signage and public education campaigns
Our Ontario PC team is keeping families safe, protecting taxpayers, and putting people first. That’s what common sense looks like.
