The Ontario PC government is cutting red tape, speeding up approvals, and protecting Ontario jobs with the launch of our new “One Project, One Process” (1P1P) framework, a major step forward in unlocking the full potential of our province’s world-class metals and mining sector.
At a time when Ontario and Canada are facing unprecedented attacks on our economy, our government is taking bold action to move with speed, strengthen self-reliance, and secure Ontario’s place as a global leader in critical minerals and advanced manufacturing.
For too long, outdated bureaucracy has delayed mine approvals for up to 15 years — compared to just six or seven years in Australia, with Europe, British Columbia, and Alberta all moving faster. That status quo is unacceptable in today’s global landscape.
Under Premier Doug Ford’s leadership, we’re changing that. In just six months, our government developed and launched the 1P1P framework, a transformative new system that cuts approval timelines by up to 50 per cent and sets a firm two-year deadline to get to “yes.” This reform will make Ontario the fastest permitting jurisdiction in the G7 and hold government officials accountable for results.
By reducing red tape and aligning provincial approvals through a single point of contact, 1P1P will unlock billions of dollars in GDP and create tens of thousands of new jobs across Northern and rural Ontario.
With growing global demand for electric vehicles, clean energy, and advanced technologies, Ontario is accelerating responsible resource development, strengthening industrial supply chains, and ensuring the minerals the world needs are mined, refined, and built right here at home.
By ending delays and defending Ontario jobs, we’re proving once again that when Ontario leads, Canada prospers.
