Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown and Members of Caucus Hold Informative Meeting with Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi
DELHI – Yesterday, Ontario PC Party Leader Patrick Brown and members of the Ontario PC Caucus enjoyed a productive meeting with the Honourable Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi discussing the importance of facilitating a relationship with India.
“It was a great opportunity to catch up with my good friend and ‘brother’ Narendra Modi, and highlight the multitude of trade opportunities between our two countries. There are more than one billion consumers in India – Ontario needs to access that market,” said Brown.
While a broad range of issues were discussed, in particular Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli discussed Indian air training, Parry Sound-Muskoka MPP Norm Miller highlighted educational exchange opportunities between Ontario and India, and the caucus discussed the need for a strong economy in Ontario.
“This meeting was also an opportunity to highlight Ontario’s rich and diverse culture,” added Brown. “Mr. Modi was particularly impressed when I told him I held the first ever garba party at Queen’s Park during the celebration of Diwali.”
Lisa MacLeod, the MPP for Nepean-Carleton, brought up the burgeoning diaspora and the Indo-Canadian community center located in her riding. Carleton-Mississippi Mills MPP Jack MacLaren, who serves as the PC Caucus’ Tamil outreach ambassador, was also in attendance and spoke about the PC Party’s outreach to Ontario’s Indian community.
“In my multitude of meetings with Modi, I have always been impressed by his intellect, sincerity, and humility. PM Modi has brought a sense of optimism to the country of India, and has contributed to widespread economic development in India and the province of Gujarat,” concluded Leader Patrick Brown. “My goal is to build a Vibrant Ontario, in the same way that Modi built a Vibrant Gujarat. I am proud to count him as a friend, and I thank him for his counsel on my vision for an Ontario that works again.”
