YORK–SIMCOE – Today, Ontario PC Party Leader Doug Ford announced that Susan Lahey has been appointed as the Ontario PC Party candidate for the upcoming York–Simcoe provincial by-election.
A long-time resident of York–Simcoe, Susan Lahey is an accomplished small business owner, East Gwillimbury Town Councillor and active community volunteer. As a member of council, she has worked to improve local infrastructure, strengthen community services and support responsible growth. Susan currently serves on the Governance Committee of CHATS and on the editorial committee for Southlake Health’s The Bridge newsletter, and has volunteered with the Mount Albert Lions Club, demonstrating her long-standing commitment to serving the community she proudly calls home.
“Susan Lahey has dedicated her career to serving her community,” said Doug Ford, Leader of the Ontario PC Party. “As a successful entrepreneur, municipal leader and community volunteer, Susan has earned the trust and respect of people across York–Simcoe. I know she’ll be a strong voice as we continue protecting Ontario’s economy, creating good-paying jobs and delivering the infrastructure our growing communities need.”
Under the leadership of Doug Ford, the Ontario PC government has delivered real results for York–Simcoe families and businesses. From eliminating the provincial portion of the HST on new homes, saving families up to $130,000, to building Highway 413 and the Bradford Bypass, our government is making life more affordable while investing in the region’s future. We’ve also broken ground on the Highway 400-Simcoe County Road 88 interchange, are rebuilding the Highway 400 platform to support its future expansion to 10 lanes, are moving forward with a new Southlake Hospital, and are investing more than $9.8 million to connect up to 34,000 people across York Region and Simcoe with primary care teams.
“It is an honour to have the opportunity to represent the community that my family and I are proud to call home,” said Susan Lahey. “Our Ontario PC team has delivered real progress for York–Simcoe by making it easier for families to buy a home, investing in new highways to reduce gridlock, expanding access to health care and supporting our growing communities. I’m ready to build on that record by standing up for local families and businesses and working with Doug Ford to keep delivering the infrastructure, services and economic opportunities our region needs.”
