Statement from Chatham-Kent-Essex MPP Rick Nicholls on the closure of Enviroshake in Chatham

“I was sad to learn that Enviroshake would be closing down its Chatham plant. This will certainly have an impact on our community. I hope action is taken to help the 50 affected employees find another job.

“Unfortunately, the reality is that it is tough to find good-paying manufacturing jobs in Ontario anymore. Under the Liberals, Ontario has lost more than 350,000 manufacturing jobs because companies no longer see Ontario as open for business.

“Enviroshake will be moving some of their production to Michigan – a state with lower hydro rates and no cap-and-trade cash grab. And, whether it’s burdensome red tape or unaffordable taxes, the Wynne Liberals have made our once great province uncompetitive.

“Life is harder under the Wynne Liberals. Ontario families are working harder, paying more, and getting less. It’s time for a change. The Ontario PCs will work tirelessly to ensure Ontario families who work hard, pay less, and get ahead.”
