Helping People Get Their COVID-19 Vaccination

$3.7 million investment will help ensure no one is left behind during vaccine rollout

The key to defeating COVID-19 is ensuring every person who wants a vaccine gets a vaccine. A lack of mobility or accessible transportation should not prevent anyone from getting vaccinated.

That is why our PC government is investing $3.7M million in 2021–22 to help remove barriers and provide safe, accessible transportation for persons with disabilities and older adults with limited mobility to travel to their COVID-19 vaccination appointments. We will literally drive you to your vaccine appointment.

“It is critically important to ensure that our most vulnerable get the protection of a COVID-19 vaccine and that’s why we are doing everything we can to remove any and all barriers,” said Doug Ford, MPP for Etobicoke North and Premier of Ontario. “In our 2021 Budget we are providing funding to help people get to the vaccines, or to bring the vaccines to them. The health and safety of our seniors and people with disabilities is a top priority.”

The government will work with local communities and public health units to implement this vital service for those who need assistance. Details on how seniors and people with disabilities can access transportation for vaccine appointments will be available in the coming weeks.
