Andrea Horwath’s NDP no longer Working for Workers

Senior NDP voices say the party has “fallen away” and is moving in the “wrong direction”

TORONTO, May 10, 2022 – Over the last four elections under Andrea Horwath, the NDP have drifted further and further away from the party’s labour roots – now catering to radical and angry downtown special interests who always say “NO” at the expense of blue-collar workers.

Andrea Horwath’s own candidate in Thunder Bay-Atikokan, Judith Monteith-Farrell, said that “the NDP has fallen away in some communities from the labour movement and certain unions have fallen away.”

Paul Miller, a 15-year NDP MPP for the riding of Hamilton East-Stoney Creek, stated that, “This party is moving in a direction that I’m not familiar with. When I joined this party, I’m a labour guy…steelworker from Hamilton, and I joined under that concept many, many, many years ago. The party is moving in the wrong direction, in my opinion, and I think that it will show in the ballot box.

These comments from one of Andrea Horwath’s candidates and a long-time NDP MPP are clear evidence that under Andrea Horwath, the NDP is abandoning workers and the labour movement in Ontario.

They continue to say NO to more support and more programs that work for workers in Ontario.

Andrea Horwath and the NDP say NO to developing our natural resources in Northern Ontario and the good-paying jobs that come with it.

Andrea Horwath and the NDP say NO to building homes, roads, and highways.

Andrea Horwath and the NDP say NO to good-paying manufacturing jobs.

Unlike Andrea Horwath and the NDP, Doug Ford and our PC team has a plan to get it done by working for workers and saying yes to rebuilding Ontario’s economy.
