Another Liberal Broken Promise: Cutting Auto Insurance Rates

Kathleen Wynne has recklessly mismanaged Ontario’s economy, and after 14 years under the Liberals, communities, workers and families across Ontario are not better off. The recent news of a further auto insurance rate hike is a perfect example of another failed Liberal promise. The 2% rate hike this year alone continues with Ontario having the most expensive auto insurance premiums in Canada.

“It’s not surprising the Wynne Liberals are failing again on a promise made. After promising a rate cut four years ago for election purposes, nothing has been done,” said Vic Fedeli, Ontario PC Finance critic. “Kathleen Wynne called this promise a “stretch goal”, which seems to be a catch phrase for so many of her broken Liberal promises.”

Ontarians are still waiting four years later for this Liberal government to follow through on a promise to cut rates by 15 per cent, which was a promise made in 2013.

“The Wynne Liberals have promised projects that make headlines, but they repeatedly fail to deliver,” added Fedeli.

Liberal broken promises include:

  • A failure to develop Ontario’s Ring of Fire, which is an untapped economic and jobs opportunity.
  • Residents still waiting for two-way all-day GO Service to several communities including Niagara, Milton and Kitchener-Waterloo.
  • A failure to get shovels in the ground on the Scarborough Subway extension
