Creating Jobs and Prosperity for the North

Our PC government is one step closer to getting a road built to Ontario’s Ring of Fire.

Today, we were pleased to announce an historic agreement with Marten Falls First Nation and Webequie First Nation that will help advance the planning and development of the proposed Northern Road Link. This link would provide reliable, all-season road access and better connect Indigenous communities to Ontario’s provincial highway network.

“After 15 years of delay by the previous government, we said we would build a road to the Ring of Fire, and we are working with our incredible partners in the Marten Falls First Nation and Webequie First Nation to do just that and make sure we do it right,” said Doug Ford, Premier and Leader of the Party. “Together, we can bring jobs and prosperity to communities across the Far North. Promises made, promises kept.”

The road project would unlock historic investments and jobs, improve access to health and social services, and put in place improved infrastructure for the First Nations and other communities nearby.

Together with our partners, our PC government is delivering on our promise to unlock social and economic prosperity across Ontario’s Northern communities.
