Del Duca-Wynne Liberal Candidate Says High Gas Prices Are a “Silver Lining”
In a community debate on May 10, 2022, Veteran Del Duca-Wynne Liberal candidate Granville Anderson (Durham) said that record high gas prices are a “silver lining” because more people may choose to bike to work.
In many parts of the province, driving a car is not a luxury – it’s a necessity. You cannot just bike to work.
While Mr. Anderson may have said the quiet part out loud, this is exactly how the Del Duca-Wynne Liberals think.
The entire point of a carbon tax is to raise the price of gasoline to a level where people are forced to make different transportation decisions.
Steven Del Duca is talking out of both sides of his mouth when he talks about lower gas prices while supporting carbon taxes. As Kathleen Wynne’s right-hand man, Steven Del Duca raised the price of gasoline by 4.3 cents per litre.
Only Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs will get it done and keep costs down by lowering the gas tax by 5.7 cents per litre.

Clip #1:
“I don’t know if soaring gas prices will take some of the pollutants off the road. Maybe that’s a silver lining and that may allow people to think outside the box and say maybe I better look at seeing if I can ride a bike to work or buy an electric car or find a different mode of transportation.”
Clip #2:
“I think the price could be a lot lower than it currently is. But again I said that may allow us to think twice and probably find another mode of transportation.”
