Del Duca-Wynne Liberal Supports Increasing Mining Tax

TORONTO, May 10, 2022 – Veteran Del Duca-Wynne Liberal candidate and former MPP Soo Wong says Ontario should jack up its mining tax – killing jobs and shutting Ontario off from resource development.

At a committee meeting, the veteran Del Duca-Wynne Liberal was asked if she wanted to raise the mining tax in the province. Her response? Absolutely.

Under the Del Duca-Wynne Liberals, Ontario fell from first in the world in global mining competitiveness to 23rd. Under Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs, the province has climbed back up to 12th in the world.

By Steven Del Duca’s own words, the Del Duca-Wynne Liberals “dramatically under-delivered” on the Ring of Fire.

At a time when critical minerals and their supply chains will be essential to the production of electric vehicles, the Del Duca-Wynne Liberals want to make it more expensive to mine and do business with higher taxes.

Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs are getting it done for the people of Northern Ontario by unlocking the economic potential of the Ring of Fire and releasing the first ever Critical Minerals Strategy. This is a plan to re-build Ontario’s economy and work for workers.

The Ontario PC Party is pleased to announce the nomination of Sergeant Peter Wiesner as candidate in the upcoming Hamilton Centre by-election.

For 22 years, Pete has served Hamilton as an officer of the Hamilton Police Service, including as Supervising Sergeant of the Crisis Response Branch since 2019. In this role, Pete has worked with community partners specializing in a co-response model to service those dealing with homeless, addiction and mental health crisis. In 2022, Pete was instrumental […]
