Doug Ford Will Cut Red Tape To Create Good Jobs

Will implement Customer Service Guarantee for all government approvals with a one year deadline for final decisions
Doug Ford today announced another major part of his plan to create jobs in Ontario – a customer service guarantee for those creating good jobs and investing in Ontario’s future.
“Under Kathleen Wynne, good jobs aren’t being created, at least not in Ontario,” said Ford. “As I travel the province I keep hearing about one big reason – because it takes so long to get approval to start or grow a business in Ontario.”
Ford announced that, as part of his Customer Service Guarantee, an Ontario PC Government will introduce ‘single-window’ access for all provincial approvals.

This means that for every ministry and every agency there will be one phone number and one website that you can access in order to get all of the approvals you need to create jobs — no guesswork or expensive lobbying required,” said Ford.

Ford also announced a hard deadline of one year for the government to make a decision on permits. “There is no reason why any government approval should ever take longer than a single calendar year,” Ford explained. “That is plenty of time to hold consultations and perform whatever reviews or assessments necessary. If a project won’t be approved, then tell people, so they can move on. Don’t leave them hanging.”

Ford contrasted his approach with that of the other two parties which are competing with each other to pile on more and more red tape.

“There are many reasons why more than 300,000 manufacturing jobs have fled Ontario under Kathleen Wynne but, without question, the increase in red tape and regulations is at the top of the list,” said Ford. “As for the NDP, they believe that the only good ideas come from government. The NDP is committed to piling on more regulations and more obstacles that will shut Ontario businesses down.”

“For me, it is simple, if you have a good idea, I want to help you create jobs,” concluded Ford. “It’s time for a government that works for the people. On June 8th we will make Ontario open for business once again. Change is coming and help is on the way.”
