Durham workers and entrepreneurs deserve better from the Wynne Liberals

DURHAM – Today Ontario PC Leader Patrick Brown attended a roundtable with local businesses owners to discuss barriers to starting and growing a business in Ontario. Brown was joined by Lindsey Park, the Ontario PC candidate for Durham, and Whitby-Oshawa MPP Lorne Coe.

“Whether its high hydro rates, high taxes, or strangling red tape, Ontario is at a competitive disadvantage,” said Brown. “Businesses are paying more and getting less. It seems Premier Wynne is forgetting that we are in competition for jobs, whether it is with Quebec or Manitoba, New York or Michigan.”

The discussion ranged from local job losses, the province’s skyrocketing hydro rates, red tape, and the Liberals’ cap-and-trade cash grab.

“Durham is home to world-class businesses and a talented workforce, but Wynne Liberal policies are making it harder and harder to get by,” added Park. “Whether it is in agriculture, food service, retail or construction, the message is the same. It’s time for a government that listens to local business owners.”

“The next election will be about who will make it easier for Ontario families to make ends meet and get ahead. I want to make Ontario a place where our businesses create good-paying jobs, and where good-paying jobs stay,” concluded Brown. “That would be change for the better.”
