Kitchener-Waterloo voters can’t trust Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals

Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals are untrustworthy. They will do, say, or promise anything to cling to power.

In the last couple of weeks, the Liberals have been travelling the province writing cheques they know are going to bounce. This afternoon, Kathleen Wynne is taking her re-election spending tour to Kitchener, where she will be making an announcement alongside Transportation Minister and Cambridge MPP Kathryn McGarry.

The Liberals still have a lot to answer for when it comes to broken promises from the last election.

In the 2014 campaign, the Liberals promised two-way all-day GO service to Kitchener by 2019. Now they’re stretching that promise to 2025.

Also in the 2014 election, the Liberals made the same empty promise on High Speed Rail, after they had a United Kingdom consultant slap together a report based on Google Maps data. Four years later we have seen little more than another environmental assessment pledge and billions in announced funding that hasn’t been budgeted.

The Liberals also promised to invest in front-line health care, but Waterloo Region hospitals have seen devastating cuts and ongoing lack of support for vital improvements. Grand River Hospital cut 68 jobs, and St. Mary’s Hospital has been waiting for 6 years for a vital Electro Physiology Lab the Liberals have promised since well before the last election.

“Kathleen Wynne and the Liberals think voters can be bought with their own money, but the people of Kitchener-Waterloo know better. They won’t be fooled again. The folks know this government can’t be trusted to keep their word,” said Ontario PC Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Michael Harris. “Kitchener-Waterloo deserves so much better than broken Liberal promises.”
