Leader of the Official Opposition Patrick Brown: We Can Do Better for Ontario Farmers
FINCH, ONTARIO – Today, Leader of the Official Opposition Patrick Brown spoke to attendees of the 2015 International Plowing Match and Rural Expo, outlining his plans to work with rural communities throughout Ontario and the importance of supporting Ontario’s farmers.
“The Ontario PC Caucus understands and supports our farmers,” said Brown. “We see Ontario’s farmers facing a high volume of red tape in running their farms, and we recognize that the high cost of hydro has forced farmers out of business. That is unacceptable. We can do better for our farmers, and for all Ontarians.”
Brown focused on the need to provide farmers with the tools to help them to succeed and the need to find sensible, pragmatic solutions to the issues facing rural Ontario.
“The Ontario PC Party supports the supply management system in the province and the Risk Management Program for Ontario farmers,” Brown added. “We want a balanced, evidence-based approach to the bee mortality rates, where bee keepers, farmers, and other parties work together to find a solution.”
“I look forward to working with Ontario’s farmers in the coming years on our shared journey to build a better Ontario,” Brown concluded.
