LiUNA Endorses Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs

Endorsement driven by Ontario PCs’ unwavering commitment to building Ontario and protecting
workers

VAUGHAN, January 30, 2025 — Today, Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs welcomed an endorsement from LiUNA that recognizes the Ontario PCs’ unwavering support for protecting Ontario, training workers, creating jobs and making record investments in infrastructure projects across the province.

“I am honoured to have the support of the more than 120,000 hardworking women and men who belong to LiUNA in Ontario,” said Doug Ford. “LiUNA members are the backbone of our province. They build critical infrastructure, including our roads, highways and homes, as well as helping Ontario expand clean, reliable nuclear energy infrastructure. We will never stop protecting Ontario workers as we navigate these uncertain times. That means investing in training, building our workforce and making sure Ontario remains a place where businesses can grow and thrive.”

The Ontario PCs have invested over $60 million in LiUNA and their local chapters to boost skilled trades training across the province. This includes building a new training centre in Vaughan to double its current capacity, helping almost 100,000 people gain the skills and training they need to find good-paying jobs in construction.

“LiUNA members show up day in and day out to build Ontario. They are the men and women who have boots on the ground to build, maintain and strengthen our roads and transit, hospitals and housing, energy and public infrastructure. In return, they expect a government who shows up for them. That government is the Doug Ford government,” said Joseph Mancinelli, LiUNA International Vice President and Canadian Director. “In the history of our province and in my 47 years at LiUNA, we have never had a provincial government this dedicated to working in collaboration to advance skilled trades and enhancing apprenticeship pathways, understanding that without a skilled, safe and productive workforce, our province and our economy cannot succeed. There is work ahead. But I am confident that with the focus and leadership of this government, together we will continue to build a stronger, prosperous Ontario, protect Ontario and power Ontario forward, today and for our future.”

“LiUNA members build Ontario and Doug Ford has a proven track record of delivering the projects that keep them working. From highways to transit and housing, his government invests in the future while protecting good-paying jobs. That’s the leadership we need during these precarious times,” said Jack Oliveira, Business Manager, LiUNA Local 183, LiUNA OPDC. “LiUNA is proud to support a leader who stands with workers and builds a stronger future.”

Only Doug Ford has a plan to protect Ontario:

  • Building Ontario’s economy by investing more than $200 billion in our plan to build roads,
highways, transit and other infrastructure projects while investing over $2.5 billion to train
more than a million people for better jobs and bigger paycheques in the skilled trades.
  • Protecting workers in the face of President Trump’s tariffs by doing whatever is
necessary to protect people’s livelihoods, including by investing tens of billions of dollars
    to keep people working.
  • Keeping us competitive by fighting the job-killing Liberal carbon tax and urging the
federal government to cut red tape and streamline approvals to get big things built.
  • Cleaning up our streets by protecting families and children by banning drug injection
sites near schools and daycares and clearing out encampments from public parks with
    new investments in shelters.
  • Delivering better care, including by investing over $1 billion more to connect everyone
in Ontario to a family doctor and primary care.

Doug Ford will never stop working to protect Ontario.
