MPP Thompson Speaks on Agriculture Week

QUEEN’S PARK – As celebrations for Agriculture Week kick off, MPP for Huron-Bruce Lisa Thompson spoke in the House in recognition of the many dedicated, hardworking farm families across the province.

“Agriculture Week is a great opportunity to reflect on the contributions that Ontario’s farm families make to the Agri-Food Industry, our economy, and our broader communities,” said Thompson.

A long-time advocate for Ontario agriculture, Thompson also used her statement to address key policy issues affecting agriculture today, including the province’s recent ban on neonicotinoids.

“The Liberal policy of banning neonics will only make things worse. Farmers are looking for predictable, bankable and sustainable paths forwards, NOT knee-jerk actions that result in economic damage that is significant and irrevocable.”
