NEW DAY, NEW SUDBURY BRIBERY SCANDAL TALE

QUEEN’S PARK – Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli asked the Wynne Government today to come clean with Ontarians about what really happened surrounding the Sudbury bribery scandal.

Fedeli’s inquiry followed contradictory responses given by the Premier and Deputy Premier yesterday surrounding payment of legal fees for Gerry Lougheed, who is now facing criminal charges in connection with the Sudbury byelection.

“First, they didn’t know who paid Gerry Lougheed’s legal bills, then said it wasn’t the government, and now we know they paid the bills until he was charged,” Fedeli said during Question Period, drawing comparisons to the government’s waffling during another previous scandal.

“During the Gas Plant Scandal, they couldn’t get their story straight on who paid Peter Faist to delete the files off the computers. Turns out it was the taxpayers who paid the $10,000,” noted Fedeli.

“They better get their stories straight before they swear an oath.”

Fedeli also wondered whether the Premier will be in court standing up for Ontario taxpayers or the Liberal Party.

“Will the Premier and her Deputy Chief of Staff be testifying for the Crown or the defence?” Fedeli asked.

“This scandal again makes it clear that the Wynne Liberal government just isn’t in it for Ontarians anymore.”
