Only Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs will Build the Bowmanville GO Extension

Extending GO line will save families time and money by delivering on two-way, all-day 15-minute train service

BOWMANVILLE, May 6, 2022 – Doug Ford and the Ontario PCs will extend GO train service in Durham Region with four new stations, including the new Bowmanville GO. A re-elected PC government will invest $730 million to bring two-way, all-day 15-minute GO train service all the way to Bowmanville as part of our plan to save families in Durham Region and across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area time and money by offering more transit options.

“Only the Ontario PCs have a plan to build highways and expand transit so that Ontarians can get across their neighbourhood and the province faster,” said Doug Ford. “The Del Duca-Wynne Liberals failed to extend GO train service to Bowmanville. Worse, the Liberals and NDP will delay this important transit project with endless studies, reports and committees when the people of Bowmanville and Durham Region need action.”

A re-elected PC government will extend the Lakeshore East GO line further into Durham Region, bringing GO train service to the people of Bowmanville for the first time. As part of its plan to expand GO service in the region, the Ontario PCs will build four new GO stations east of Oshawa, including Thornton’s Corners East, Ritson Road, Courtice and Bowmanville. Extending the Lakeshore East GO train line with two-way, all-day 15-minute service will connect more people in Durham to more jobs and places while saving commuters money and reducing travel times across the region.

“Ontarians are sick of delays and they’re tired of politicians finding any reason to say no,” added Ford. “Whether it’s saving GM Oshawa, scrapping the tolls on Highway 412 and 418 or now bringing GO train service further into Durham to Bowmanville, the Ontario PCs have a track-record of real action and delivering real results for the people of Durham. We will build the Bowmanville GO extension and get it done.”

Doug Ford is the only leader with a real plan:

  • Rebuilding Ontario’s economy with good manufacturing jobs, more support for small business and a mining plan that will finally open up the Ring of Fire.
  • Working for workers by encouraging apprenticeships and opening up jobs in the skilled trades, allowing colleges to grant three-year degrees and increasing the minimum wage.
  • Building highways and infrastructure, including Highway 413, the Bradford Bypass while investing in the 401 East
  • Keeping costs down by lowering gas taxes, getting rid of license plate stickers and removing unfair tolls on Highways 412 and 418.
  • Plan to stay open by hiring more nurses, doctors and personal support workers, allowing more seniors to stay in their own homes and producing more vaccines and critical supplies like PPE right here in Ontario.

Only Doug Ford will Get it Done.

Quotes:

“This marks a significant milestone—one that will help to transform the way we connect with each other for decades to come. Durham Region has worked closely with our local municipalities, Metrolinx and the Ministry of Transportation to bring this convenient transit option for travel within Durham. We look forward to continuing this work with our partners. Together, we are helping to keep Durham on the right track, for generations to come.”
