Ontario Liberals’ Rhetoric Can’t Hide Their Record in Rural Ontario

October 1, 2023

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STRATFORD – Ahead of the Ontario Liberals’ leadership debate in Stratford, the Ontario PC Party released the following statement:

“During their 15 years in government, the Ontario Liberals ignored rural communities and refused to take them seriously.

The Liberals said NO to families by closing 600 schools, largely in rural Ontario, while child care costs shot through the roof by a staggering 400 per cent.

They said NO to keeping costs down for average people when they sent hydro bills skyrocketing, forcing seniors and families to choose between heating and eating.

They said NO to connecting communities to broadband by failing to get high-speed internet off the ground.

They said NO to farmers by imposing a harmful carbon tax, which every Liberal leadership candidate supports.

While the Ontario Liberals continue down their path of saying NO, the Ontario PCs are saying YES to rural Ontario by building schools, keeping energy costs down, cutting the gas tax, and bringing high-speed internet to more communities across the province.

Our PC team will continue getting it done for people living in rural Ontario and everywhere in between.”
