Ontario PC Government Signs Agreements to Unlock Free Trade with Alberta, Prince Edward Island, and Saskatchewan

To help grow Canada’s economy and eliminate barriers to interprovincial trade, Premier Doug Ford joined Alberta Premier Danielle Smith, Prince Edward Island Premier Rob Lantz and Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe to sign new Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) promoting free trade across provincial borders.

As part of this effort, the Ontario PC government has also introduced the Protect Ontario Through Free Trade Within Canada Act—a bold step that reduces red tape, increases labour mobility and strengthens supply chains by supporting more seamless commerce across provincial borders.

Through these MOUs and legislative actions, Ontario is opening new pathways for qualified, in-demand workers, supporting truckers and tradespeople and ensuring Canadian businesses aren’t held back by outdated policies.

The Ontario PC government remains committed to working with federal, provincial and territorial partners to build a more unified, competitive national economy—and to protect Ontario from global threats like U.S. tariffs by strengthening our internal trade ties.
